Heavy Truck Tires
Welcome to our site. Here you will
find information on truck tires and
accessories.
The heavily loaded large trucks hauling loads of ores on
hilly roads or involved in construction works or pulling a
crane need 'heavy truck tires' which are very different from
normal passenger or sport truck tires. The heavy truck fall in
class 6 to 8 category and are commercially used in industries
or public services. The type of heavy duty they perform and the
terrain they travel demand superior features for tire, and for
these reasons tire manufacturers develop special tires larger
in size and dedicated for them.
Heavy truck tires feature large diameter, large size rugged
and layered thick rubber wear for maximum load. Often large
truck hauls a long trailer carrying load. For these commercial
trucks tires with for three positions (steer, drive and
trailer) has been developed many companies. Tire quality also
varies for different type of road and climate. However large
tire trucks are very different from passenger or sports
vehicles.
The first essential feature of heavy duty truck tires is
great performance in all-terrain roads. The commercial large
carrier trucks have to travel a lot everyday and sometimes
cross several states in single day. Therefore they face great
variation in terrain condition. The tire must be effective to
prevent from slipping, great in cornering, and give good
response to steer and braking. Good grip of tire is also
necessary to handle dry and wet roads. The large truck tires
need to be durable, as they have to travel a lot and drivers
have hardly any time to repair in mid of the journey. Moreover,
all type of repair and replacement cost associated with large
tires is higher than any other tire, so a heavy duty thick
rubber outfit is preferred for large tires.
Most commercial trucks use dual tire traditionally for each
axle hub but some recent companies are producing single tire.
These large single tires with great capacity will reduce truck
weight and increase capacity of load. Nevertheless, they become
flat by erosion; owner has to replace it immediately which is a
disadvantage.
The Michelin is the most preferred brand for heavy truck
tires over Goodyear and Bridgestone followed by Continental and
Dunlop. Almost all high ranked tire companies have large truck
tires for heavy duty. The tires vary for axle positions (steer,
drive and trailer) and for applications such as long trailer,
on/off road, all terrain, winter conditions, highway and
regional drives. The tire companies also offer retread service
for their tires and the retread truck tires have a good market
in North America and Europe.
Continental HSL 2 Eco Plus 295/ 60 R22.5 and HDL2 Eco Plus
are most preferred Continental tires for heavy duty large
trucks. Their tread pattern is specially designed to minimize
wear effects, increase traction, reduce noise level and balance
weight distribution. These models are efficient long haul heavy
truck tires and popular for great performance, durability and
reasonable price.
