Good Tires, Goodyear
Finding good tires at good prices is a chore. It can
involve hours of research and endless reading of reviews,
visits to stores, and discussions with salesmen. But in
the end, a few brand names keep getting mentioned as the best
in the middle market of tires; not too expensive, not too
cheap, not perfectly sturdy, but definitely not weak.
Amongst these names is a company that has basically become a
household name: Goodyear.
Goodyear truck tires are renowned for good prices and
durability. With an outstanding web-site where they rate
their own tires, Goodyear is upfront with the customer
regarding each tire, how it performs under wet traction, snow,
off-road or whether or not the tires will deafen you with one
ride. Reading the Goodyear site first and select
the tires you think might be of interest to you.
Then take that list to more unbiased tire review
sites. Most tire web-sites will carry the universally
known brand name, and if your model is readily popular, reviews
will be posted. Read every review to get a general
consensus on the tire, including how cost-effective it is, as
tires that don’t last are not worth much. Aside from the
regular tire store web-sites like Wheel Works, Discount Tire
and Tire101, you will often find reviews on other sites such as
Amazon or Epinions. Consumer Reports, and Consumer Search
are two excellent sites for tire reviews and recommendations by
the experts.
Goodyear truck tires can be placed on trucks or SUVs.
They have a wide variety of choices, and which one you choose
will depend on your specific needs. Their “TractiveGroove
Technology” line is meant for trucks that need high traction,
or if you own a truck but want a smooth, quiet ride, their
“Silent Armor Technology” line is more suited for your
needs. If durability and toughness is your main concern,
“DuPont Kevlar” Goodyear truck tires are always a good
bet. For all-around stable and long-lasting tires with no
specific off-roading needs, their extensive “TripleTred
Technology” line is suited for most trucks.
Some prime examples of Goodyear truck tires are Fortera
Triple Tred. This particular tires provide 3 tread zones
for increased traction. Be it in snow, rain, or icy
environments, these tires will resist slipping and hold on
tight to the road. But they are not meant for
off-roading, so if that is what you need, then perhaps the
Wrangler line is more for you. Wrangler MT/R with or
without Kevlar all excel in off-roading, but the inclusion of
Kevlar make them slightly more usable in dry or wet traction,
while making them lose a point in snow traction. The
usage of Kevlar, though, provides for a slightly quieter
ride. These Goodyear truck tires are readily
available and are considered durable. According to
Consumer Search, however, they report that mixed reviews on mud
and rocks, provide no tread-ware warranty and are quite
noisy. Also, these tires are more expensive than
better-rated competitor’s tires. One search at Consumer
Reviews, and you will see that when considering Goodyear
Wrangler tires of this model, they recommend the all-terrain
Pirelli Scorpion ATR, which costs $125 compared to the
Wrangler’s $170.
Using reviews and gathering information will help you
purchase the best Goodyear truck tires for your needs.
Bear this information in mind prior to visiting a retailer that
carries Goodyear truck tires so you walk in knowing exactly
what you need, and have a very good idea on how much you’re
willing to pay for your new tires that will hopefully last a
relatively long time.
